JORDAN: 26% INCREASE IN INTERNATIONAL VISITORS SPENDING

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, international visitor spending in Jordan increased by 26 percent last year compared to the previous year. Official data shows that the total expenditure of international visitors from different nationalities was about 5.256 billion dinars in 2023, up from 4.163 billion in 2022.

The data also shows that the average spending per international visitor to Jordan was 827 dinars in 2023, up from 817 dinars in 2022. It is worth noting that international visitors to Jordan represent expatriates, Arabs and Jordanians living abroad.

According to statistics, the highest spending by international visitors to Jordan was recorded for Arab visitors to the Kingdom. The volume of expenditure reached 2.262 billion dinars last year, compared to 1.819 billion dinars in 2022. This is an increase of 24.3% or 443 million dinars. The percentage of spending by Arab international visitors was about 42.6% of the Kingdom’s total tourism revenue.

About 1.597 billion dinars were spent by expatriate Jordanians last year, an increase of 18.6% or 246 million dinars compared to 2022. The percentage of spending by Jordanian expatriates was about 30.1% of the Kingdom’s total tourism revenue.

Foreign international visitors spent about 1.394 billion dinars in Jordan last year, an increase of 46.2 percent compared to 2022, or an increase of 441 million dinars. 26.3%
